April 3: Now, seeing as though the original g-lader is not fixable, I have bought another one...I have been told it is in good working condition and already has new seals and a new timing belt with it...just need to replace the bearings inside...
April 7: Removed clutch, flywheel, oil filter, housing, oil cooler, distributor, fuel injectors, intake manifold. I had a chance to blast a few pieces, but not everything. We're still going to see if we can put that 16v head on this engine that we picked up - I'm not sure if it will work, though.

April 13: removed right door seal, seatbelt track, door panel, door latch, handle
April 16: placed engine on engine stand, removed supercharger bracket, alternator, exhaust manifold, downpipe, belt pulleys, valve cover, blasted and painted supercharger bracket, a few other brackets
April 17: removed the rest of the engine down to the block and crankshaft, blasted and painted the rest of the brackets and small pieces
April 23: blasted and painted flywheel
April 29: removed valves, washed cylinder head
May 1: covered european headlights, turn signal lenses and fog light lenses with protective sheeting
May 2: blasted cylinder head
May 4: installed new valve guides, had cylinder head and flywheel resurfaced
May 13: took block apart and washed it. I took a look at the fuel pump and surrounding lines - the bracket looks pretty rusty up there, but the lines look ok.
May 17: cut head
May 18: lapped intake valves into head - still waiting for exhaust valves and oversized pistons to come in

July 26: Oversized Mahle Pistons, exhaust valves, and some other engine parts and hoses finally arrived!!
Aug. 6: Blasted engine block.
Aug. 12: finished blasting block, primed it. Brought block and pistons to the machine shop for surfacing and boring.
Sept. 22: Brought flywheel, crankshaft and a few other pieces to machine shop for engine balance.
Sept. 24: Removed exhaust, gas tank, fuel pump and filter, housing.
Sept. 25: Blasted and painted gas tank straps and fuel pump housing brackets.
Oct. : Picked up flywheel, block, crank, cam, pistons, etc. from machine shop ... looks good!
Nov. 18: Received new Autotech 260 cam and adjustable cam gear.

Apr. 8: Painted Block

more pictures of the project coming as I go along.
