Update: July 8, 2001: We have the hood, trunk lid, spoiler ready to prime and paint...after some sandblasting some rust and grinding all of the paint off, down to the bare metal. The left fender has the sidemarker hole in it, but needs a little bit more work for primer to be put on. The right fender still needs the hole cut and the sidemarker hole welded in from a newer style VW fender. Some pics to follow...
July 28, 2001: I scotch-brited the trunk lid this afternoon. Some primer was sprayed onto the it, with the finishing touch hopefully being tomorrow.
August 11, 2001: Well, my sister was here from SC for a week with her '96 Passat TDI so my father was working on that and her '82 Volvo Diesel all week. My project has been put on hold, but this coming week we are planning on getting paint on things. I have added a picture above of my father spraying the hood in our garage.
Oct. 6, 2001: The trunk lid and hood have been placed on the car!
Oct. 13, 2001: I installed the rear european middle lens onto the trunk lid and put the latch and all other pieces back onto the trunk - excluding the spoiler. That still has to get painted.
Oct. 25, 2001: The left fender is ready for red paint...no sidemarkers are going to be installed. We have somewhat ran out of time to do that. I hope that next spring that will happen. The right fender has been blasted and sanded...waiting for a coat of primer at the moment.
Nov. 12, 2001: The fenders and hood have been painted. The hood has been installed and we are waiting for a front apron piece to come. Once we get that piece painted we can get the rest of the car back together. At the moment, the car is getting a new fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel lines, timing belt, valve cover gasket, exhaust manifold gasket.
May 1, 2005: Installed new fuel lines and rear brake lines.
Aug. 19, 2005: Installed new fuel pump and new fuel filter.
Nov. 13, 2005: It's back in the garage after sitting outside much too long.
Nov. 19, 2005: Installed heater core, motor, idle control module on the intake, air filter and box.
Nov. 20, 2005: Installed breather hose that runs along with the new fuel lines.
April 2006: Installed new rubber grommets with fuel lines and breather line

New wheels?? YUP!!!

Sept. 19, 2006: Bought and installed Audi hubcaps
